Content that Doesn’t Transfer

Remember that only content you purchase from Amazon is automatically placed in cloud storage and made available on your Kindle Fire HD. You can use your existing cloud storage account to transfer content to your Kindle, as well. However, unlike content that you purchase from Amazon, this content will consume storage space when you store it on your cloud drive.

To transfer documents from your cloud storage to your Kindle Fire HD, you can use the Amazon web interface. If you just want to send a document to your Kindle, however, you can email it using the address that Amazon gives you. This will be YourName@kindle.com. You can use the email-to-Kindle feature for documents in the following formats.

• MS Word, including DOC and DOCX

• PDF

• BMP

• JPG

• PNG

• GIF

• RTF

• HTML

• Kindle EBooks in MOBI or AZW

This is the easiest way to get a document to your Kindle Fire HD. If you want to go the route of uploading the document to cloud storage and then downloading it to your Kindle, the procedure is a bit more involved but still relatively simple.

Go to Amazon.com and select the “Your Cloud Drive” link under Your Account

Upload the files that you want to transfer using the “Upload Files” link in the upper left-hand corner of the screen
